These times are obviously no different than any other times in history. As I listen in my quiet room...and neighborhood, I'm disturbed by a guy bumping his 14" sub woofers in the back of his car ride down the street yet again, I wonder to myself how New Jersey became the way it is now. How have we allowed the hoodlums to run our streets and corruption to enter our offices?
Fortunately for me, my political bubble has been shielded quite nicely over the years with the exception of Jim McGreevey who I have nothing against because he's gay but just the fact that he lied to his wife about it for so long and adultery is not something that should be tolerated at all in our political system. Anyways, I don't want to get into all that but back to topic...if you've been watching the news 3 Mayors of NJ cities, along with 5 rabbis and countless # of lackeys have been found and under arrest for selling body parts, money laundering, etc. The bad publicity this puts on New Jersey is stifling and in an already bad position.
Known as the "armpit of America" (which I had no idea until just recently), I find it deeply disturbing not only because of the pride I share with my fellow New Jerseysians but also because there are so many good aspects of New Jersey that people fail to recognize. Here are just a few things that many people overlook when it comes to New Jersey:
- Rutgers played Princeton in the first intercollegiate football game, ever.
- Les Paul invented the solid body electric guitar in 1940.
- The first American brewery was in our very own, Hoboken, in 1642.
- Thomas Edison created the first incandescent lamp in 1879 and the first phonograph in 1877.
- Last but not least, Francis Hopkinson designed the first American flag in 1777.
Over the past few days, we can all learn a lesson about ethics, not only from this state-wide scandal but also to our President whom failed to speak in a professional manner about our law enforcement...without knowing exactly what went on. Let's take the following as a lesson to ourselves to do the right thing and when speaking; pause, think and then speak in a professional manner like the world is watching you...literally. I've attached a tidbit from the John Stewart Show you all will enjoy about the latest NJ scandal. Enjoy!
I tried to find the YouTube clip of this and unfortunately Comedy Central's html isn't working so here's the link: http://tinyurl.com/mflh46.
